RapidRetouch, free Evoto-style portrait retouching
AI-assisted portrait retouching that runs entirely on your own computer. No uploads, no subscription, no credits. Free and open source.
I wanted the speed of Evoto’s AI retouching without the subscription, the per-image credits or uploading my clients’ photos to someone else’s server, so I built RapidRetouch. I also wanted to bring AI retouching to Linux, where nothing like it existed.
Everything is a slider, and it’s all non-destructive and live.
The retouching itself is classic image processing, like frequency separation, not generative AI, so faces are never redrawn. AI is only used to find the face, skin, hair and backdrop, and every model used is licensed for commercial work.
It runs entirely on your own computer on Linux, Mac and Windows. No uploads, no accounts, and it’s free and open source.
A retouching app made by a portrait photographer for portrait photographers. Enjoy!
Features
- Remove blemishes and acne
- Smooth and even out skin while keeping its texture

On first launch it downloads its AI engine once (about 1 GB, or 3 GB with an NVIDIA graphics card), then works offline. The installers aren’t code-signed yet. On a Mac, open the app once (it will be blocked), then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway, or run the command below. On Windows, choose More info, then Run anyway.
