Hi, I'm Chris, a photographer in Kent
Calm on the day, quick to put people at ease, and slightly obsessed with light. Rated 5.0 from 44 Google reviews.
I bought my first DSLR in 2013, and the first thing I pointed it at was the Milky Way. I was hooked. I taught myself through practice and a lot of online tutorials, and my interest soon spread to portraits, studio lighting and, before long, weddings. I built my own studio in Maidstone so photography could become a full part of my working life.
How I work
I get to know you first. Before a wedding or shoot we talk through what you want the day to feel like, whether that’s relaxed and informal or a full traditional celebration, so I understand the photos that matter to you. You’ll hear from me clearly at every stage, from the first chat through to delivery.
I arrive promptly and talk you through the day. On a wedding day I’m there on time and ready before things get busy, and I’ll guide you step by step so you always know what’s happening. It helps settle the nerves.
Calm, discreet and unobtrusive. During ceremonies and quieter moments I keep out of the way and let things unfold. The aim is to feel like part of the day rather than a stranger with a camera, catching the moments you’re too busy to see yourselves.
Quick, friendly group shots. I’ll get even the most excited guests into position without the group photos dragging on, then get back to the candid moments.
Calm when plans change. Delays happen. I’ve rearranged my own day to make sure a couple’s wedding was still captured, and I’m happy working alongside your videographer.
Guidance at portrait shoots. I’ll direct your posing, show you shots on the back of the camera as we go, and bring a clear idea of the look we’re after, with plenty of patience.
Photos without the long wait. I know you’re keen to see them. A recent London event client had their full set within the week, and after a portrait shoot I can often send a few favourites the same evening.
A bit more about me
Before photography I spent years in design and print, which still shapes how I work: I care about colour, detail and how a photo will look on the wall as well as on a screen.
When lockdown hit my other business hard, photography became my therapy. I spent nights shooting timelapses of the Kent sky, and in 2022 those films were featured by ITV Meridian and KentOnline. ITV came back in 2024 for a lunar eclipse feature too.
These days I photograph weddings, portraits, events and commercial work across Kent, London and the south east, and I build free photo-editing apps for Linux, Mac and Windows in my spare time.
